Why I built Tweed.

A personal note on the 2am maths, the fragments, and the picture we wanted instead.

RacheleFounder, Tweed

Hi, I’m Rachele, founder of Tweed.

I started building Tweed during maternity leave. I’d be up at 2am, feeding a newborn, mentally trying to tally up whether we could afford to extend my leave by another month and realising I genuinely didn’t know.

Our money was spread everywhere: personal current accounts, a joint account, credit cards, ISAs, pensions, a mortgage, student loans, childcare costs, and Monzo Flex for spreading bigger purchases. Each app did its own job well. Together, they gave us no picture at all, just fragments.

It wasn’t that we were in trouble. It was the not-knowing that was exhausting.

What we wanted wasn’t complicated: understand our day-to-day spending, plan a budget that fit our actual life, track our monthly cash flow, and see how today’s decisions would shape our financial future. In one place.

The budgeting apps we tried were mostly backwards-looking, useful for seeing where money had gone, less useful for working out where things were heading. Organising transactions was its own frustration: categories too rigid, budgets too inflexible, the whole thing too easy to abandon after a few weeks.

That’s where Tweed came from.

Tweed is a personal finance tracker and planner built to give you the full picture. It brings together budgeting, spending analysis, cash flow, savings, debt, and long-term wealth tracking and it’s designed to take no more than 15 minutes a month to keep up to date.

Not because your finances aren’t important. Because they shouldn’t feel like a second job.

I also wanted something I’d actually trust with my family’s data, so privacy was a design principle from day one, not an afterthought.

Tweed is built for families, couples, busy parents, and anyone who wants to feel genuinely on top of their money without making it complicated.

We hope it helps you feel clearer, calmer, and more confident about your financial future.

Thanks for being here, it genuinely means a lot.
